About the Author
Anna Vanzan was born and lives in Venice, Italy. She received her Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from New York University. Her interest focuses on the history and literature of Qajar Iran and on the relations between Iran and the West. She currently teaches Islamic Culture at the University IULM (Milano-Feltre). Her latest publications are the translation of the Humayunnama (from Persian to Italian), an anthology of Iranian female writers’ short stories. She has written various articles on Islamic/Persian culture that have been appearing in Italian magazines and journals. She is currently writing articles on Qajar Iran for the Encyclopaedia Iranica.
She translated Crowning Anguish, Taj al-Saltana: Memoirs of a Persian Princess from the Harem to Modernity from Mage.
